New Plays for Children and Young People has been published since 1992 (editor: Zbigniew Rudziński) and is aimed at professional and amateur theatres. Thirty-two volumes have been issued so far.
The publishing of New Plays for Children and Young People is subsidized by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and it is currently the only publication in Poland which regularly presents the latest drama works for young audiences. It features selected works submitted for the play competition which has been organised by the Centre every year since 1986, as well as translations of foreign dramas into Polish, e.g. works written by P. Dorin, P. Gripari, J.C. Carierre, J.C. Grumberg, W. Mouawad from France, T. Dorst and L. Hübner from Germany, A. Fujita from Japan, B.W. Shearer from Australia, M.I. Falconi from Argentina and many others. Many of the dramas published in New Plays… have found their way to the repertoires of professional puppet theatres (89 premieres), dramatic theatres (25 premieres), television theatre (16 premieres) and various festivals. A few of the plays have been translated into German and published in the collection Dramatik aus Polen; some, translated into Croatian and English, have been published in Polish Reader (ed. Epicentre). Amateur theatres are also eager to use New Plays… . On request of teachers and art instructors the texts are sent to schools, clubs and cultural centres all over Poland and other countries.
