Boëthius, Gunilla (Sweden)

Gunilla Boëthius was born in 1945. She has written several books for young adults and has been a prolific dramatist ever since her debut in 1981. Several of her plays have been produced by the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm, Young Riksteatern, the Radio Drama Department at the Swedish Broadcasting Corporation and a number of alternative theatre groups. In 1992 she received the Prix d’Assitej Award for her plays for children and young adults. Gunilla Boëthius was awarded her first Special Commendation in the category for Radio Drama at the 1998 Prix Europa with her play The Kangaroo Girl. During the last few years her plays have been produced all over Europe.

Fredén, Sofia (Sweden)

Photo: Bengt WanseliusSofia Fredén was born in 1968 in Göteborg, Sweden’s second largest city. She studied writing for film and theatre at Dramatiska Institutet, graduating in 1995. Since graduation she has written prolifically for the theatre and also managed to write for film and radio. Her plays have been produced in most of the city and regional theatres in Sweden, as well as at the Royal Dramatic Theatre. In 2005, Sofia received the critics prize for Children and Youth Theatre, for three plays that played simultaneously at three different theatres; Bara Barnet (Only a Child), Ruttet: a princess liv (Rotten: The Life of a Princess) and Solapan (The Sun Monkey). Several of Sofia’s plays are translated to other languages; French, German and English primarily. Sofia is playwright in residence at Stockholm Stadsteatern and lives in Stockholm.

Nygren, Anna (Sweden)

Anna Nygren, born in Sweden 1990, writes plays, poetry, film and fiction. She graduated from the Biskops-Arnö Dramatic Writing Program in 2012 and the same year she finished her Bachelor Degree in literature at Linköping University. Anna has written plays for several free groups in Sweden, and after attending the Assitej exchange program Inspiring a Generation, in Cape Town, South Africa, she has also co-written two plays for Cape Town based performing group The Playgroup. Anna currently lives in Stockholm, Sweden, working on her MA thesis on Virginia Woolf and writing parallel on two plays. When not writing Anna does illustrations or yoga, or pets her cats. One of her more different passions is crocheting, which she does whenever she can.

Törnqvist, Mia (Sweden)

Mia Törnqvist was born in Stockholm in 1957. She has a degree in Italian and The History of Literature. She has translated plays and novels from Italian and English. She studied dramaturgy at Dramatiska Institutet (University College of Film, Television, Radio and the Theatre) in Stockholm in 1987-90 and for the next three years she worked as a dramaturge at Västmanland's county theatre. Since 1993 she has worked as a freelance playwright and dramaturge.
