what's happening? > Actors for Children Theatre to represent Kentucky at SETC in March 2015

For the second time in two years, Actors for Children Theatre, a touring troupe of adults performing for youth audiences, will represent the state of Kentucky at the Southeastern Theatre Conference. ACT was named "Outstanding Performance," "Best Ensemble" and "Best Costume and Make-Up Design" at the Community Theatre Festival of the Kentucky Theatre Association in November 2014. ACT will compete in adjudicated performance in March 2015 at SETC's Community Theatre Festival in Chattanooga, TN.

ACT's 2014-15 festival production is MONSTERS UNDER THE BED by Gay H. Hammond, New Classics Plays of Gainesville GA. The play features six silly monsters who dance, tell tales and weave stories all centered on the monster rules: Be Brave! Be Surprising! Be Happy!

In 2013-14, ACT won top honors at KTA and advanced to SETC with Kathryn Schultz Miller's award-winning A THOUSAND CRANES.

Both productions were directed by Sarah Diamond Burroway, who cofounded Actors for Children Theatre. ACT was created to provide live theatre for arts-underserved children in the Appalachian foothills of KY, WV and OH.
