Five young European playwrights – from Germany, Latvia, Netherlands and Turkey –  explored the Festival and ASSITEJ World Congress from 20th to 25th May 2011 in Malmoe and Copenhagen, discovering a host of new experiences and networking opportunities. Organised by Interplay Europe and invited by the festival, they discussed their own scripts and general playwriting topics. In close relationship with experienced artists they had “One to One Chats” and round table talks. Leading practitioners such as Suzanne Osten, Kim Peter Kovac, Marie Persson Hedenius and others shared their knowledge with the emerging playwrights, and the results of the discussions and the new plays were presented in a public reading on 24th of May in Malmoe.

Henning Fangauf, head of the project and Chairperson of Interplay Europe (Frankfurt/Germany), commented: “It’s up to us to open the world of children’s theatre to the next generation, to encourage them to write for a young audience. This project, titled New Texts – New Voices, has been a great success for all.”
