Asher, Sandra Fenichel (USA)

Sandra Fenichel Asher has been honored with Distinguished Play Awards from the American Alliance for Theatre and Education, for A WOMAN CALLED TRUTH, IN THE GARDEN OF THE SELFISH GIANT, and JESSE AND GRACE: A BEST FRIENDS STORY (all Dramatic Publishing Company). 

Her plays have been produced nationwide and in Canada, England, Ireland, the Czech Republic, New Zealand and Australia. 

Sandy is the recipient of a NEA playwriting grant, the AATE’s Charlotte Chorpenning Award for a distinguished body of work in children’s theater, the Open Eye Theater’s Joseph Campbell Memorial Award, and an Aurand Harris fellowship grant from the Children’s Theatre Foundation of America.

Six of her plays appear in the anthology TELL YOUR STORY:  THE PLAYS AND PLAYWRITING OF SANDRA FENICHEL ASHER, edited by Judy Matetzschk-Campbell and John Dilworth Newman (Dramatic Publishing Company).

As Sandy Asher, she has also published 30 books for young readers.
