Bringsværd, Tor Åge (Norway)
Tor Åge Bringsværd was born in Skien, Norway. Has studied mythology and folklore at the University of Oslo. His first book was published in 1967, and his first play in 1970. Since then, he has worked as a full-time writer, publishing several novels, collections of short stories, science fiction and who-done-its, collections of essays and children’s books. He has written more than 40 plays, mostly for the stage, but also for radio and television. For the past ten years, most of his work has been inspired by Norse myths and fairytales. And it is the playwright’s intention that these plays can be seen by children and adults alike, even though they may experience them in different ways. Bringsværd has received many literary prizes for his works in Norway and abroad. To date, his books and plays have been translated into 16 languages.
