Georgette Kelly
Georgette Kelly is a playwright with one foot in Chicago and the other in New York. Her work has been produced across the United States, and she has participated in numerous artistic residencies, including the 2020 New Visions/New Voices Festival at The Kennedy Center. Her plays for and about young people include HOW TO HERO, FAREWELL OPPORTUNITY, and NORTH STAR. Other titles include: BALLAST (Craig Noel Award, Kilroy’s List), I CARRY YOUR HEART (Hope on Stage Playwriting Award), FAITH IN A FALLEN WORLD, IN THE BELLY OF THE WHALE, and an adaptation of Jeanette Winterson’s LIGHTHOUSEKEEPING. She is an alumna of the Goodman Playwrights Unit, a resident playwright at Chicago Dramatists, and a member of the Dramatists Guild of America. Georgette holds a B.A. in Performance Studies from Northwestern University and an M.F.A. in Playwriting from Hunter College. Her scripts are available on the New Play Exchange: newplayexchange.org.
