The Growing Stage (USA)
Founded in 1982, The Growing Stage is a thriving center for the performing arts that engages a community of professional Equity actors and artists, community players, students, teachers and families. We are a not for profit professional member theatre of the Association of Actor’s Equity whose mission it is to nurture the development of the performing arts through education, and to create, produce, and perform works that engage the entire family.
The Growing Stage is housed in the historic Palace Theatre in Netcong, New Jersey. In 1995, when we purchased the theatre, the facility was in a desperate state of disrepair. On March 1, 2011, we celebrated the 15th anniversary of our re-opening of the Palace. Now, 15 years later, after countless volunteer hours and over $2 million raised and invested into the project, the Palace Theatre is listed on the Morris County, State of New Jersey and National Registers of Historic Places. The Growing Stage serves as a prime example of how the arts can stimulate a local economy and encourage revitalization.
We are the only professional theatre company in New Jersey dedicated solely to theatre for young audiences that owns its own facility, and our restoration of the Palace forms an integral part of our history.
